JUNIOR SQUADS
Junior 1 and Junior 2 the emphasis here is primarily on a good grounding in stroke technique. Coaching sessions focus on helping to fine tune technique and building stamina and confidence. Competition opportunities will be introduced, which increase as swimmers progress – this is primarily by timing sessions, but this is not the only factor considered when the coaching team make these decisions.
Training Jnr swim for exercise, enjoyment, and/or to complement another sport (there is no competitive expectation).
Please arrive 10 minutes before the start of your session.
Swim training sessions:
SQUAD | DAY | TIME |
Junior 1 (1 hr) | Saturday | 9–10am |
Junior 2 (2 hrs) | Thursday Saturday | 6–7pm 8–11am |
Training Jnr (1 hr) | Thursday | 7–8pm |

INTERMEDIATE & SENIOR SQUADS
For older swimmers emphasis is increasingly on building stamina, but stroke development may be necessary. Our fully qualified club coaches write session plans for each squad and these sessions form part of an overall program, which runs throughout the year – hence the importance of attending as many sessions as possible to derive the full benefit.
As with all competitive sports, coaches are guides and teachers. The swimmer must want to learn and should set their own goals and targets using their coaches and parents as guides.
Progress is based on overall performance – individual timing, technical assessment, motivation as well as attendance.
Please arrive 10 minutes before the start of your session.
Intermediate Squad is the pathway to Senior and as such is a competitive squad with certain expectations of swimmers entering the competitive pathway.
Senior Squad swimmers compete regularly, and there are expectations of the swimmers in regards to performance, attendance and general behaviour.
Training Squad swim for exercise, enjoyment, and/or to complement another sport (there is no competitive expectation).
*Swimmers choosing 2 hours must confirm the session they will attend, subject to available space.
Swim training sessions:
SQUAD | DAY | TIME |
Intermediate (3.5 hrs) | Tuesday Thursday Friday | 6.45–8.15pm 6–7pm 4–5pm |

MASTERS SQUAD
In 2023,
Cupar & District Swimming Club launched its very first Masters Squad,
having persuaded a few ex-swimmer parents and realising we had enough interest
to make it official. So, if you fancy dusting off some old goggles, and buying a new cossie/set of trunks (dusting off the old ones may be a step too far) then get in touch!
We have 2 sessions a week, and as for all the other swimmers we arrive at least 10 minutes before the start of the session.
Swim training sessions:
SQUAD | DAY | TIME |
Masters (1.5 hrs) | Wednesday or Friday | 8–9.30pm |
Masters (3 hrs) | Wednesday or Friday | 6.30–8pm |
