We are absolutely delighted to announce a fantastic success for CDSC.&nbsp; Two months ago, at a committee meeting our Fundraising Guru, Hilary Lumsden pointed out that we could win £1000 in a competition run by Water Safety Scotland and the Darcey Sunshine Foundation.

The challenge was given to our senior swimmers and Lilianna Wiacek drew up a very appropriate poster highlighting Water Safety. Thinking it needed a bit more than a poster and remembering our success with videoing in the Club of the Year competition, Coaches Hilary Lumsden and Gina Logan suggested a pool session to demonstrate what was on the poster. And we came up trumps

Friday Frogs are a group of non-competitive, but enthusiastic, swimmers who train every Friday from 5-6pm and they were selected to participate in the pool session. A script was prepared and Gina went through a pool session with the Frogs, which was fun but chaotic. However, not daunted, the Senior swimmers had the role of describing what was happening, or meant to be happening, in the pool. In the second session it all went to plan.

Eight swimmers took part – Cameron, Thomas, Hannah, Jack, James, Lucas, Nathanial and Murray – in four safety situations narrated by senior swimmers Aaron, Liliana and Freya. The session was videoed by Anabella and then Saif edited the video.&nbsp;

And we won – yes, the Club gets £1000 and an Amazon voucher for £100 for the youngsters. They’ve also been invited to work with a professional filming team and Water Safety Scotland on their campaign.

This is a great achievement for our young team, and boost to the Club finances, as well as recent generous sponsorship support from parents, Steven Sheriffs (Sheriffs Plant Hire and Groundworks) and Gregor Jamieson (Gorjam Roofing andMaintenance).

CDSC Competition Sucess!

CDSC @ Fife Novice and Fife Leagues 🏊‍♀️🐬

On Saturday 3rd May, Cupar and District Swimming Club made a splash at the 4th round of the Fife Novice and Fife Leagues, held in the East District. With a strong squad turnout, our swimmers were fired up and ready to put their training to the test — chasing PBs, competing across strokes, and swimming alongside athletes from other clubs in a fully officiated, electronically timed environment! 🕒💪

These events are a fantastic opportunity for our swimmers — as races are seeded by entry times (not age or gender), every heat brings a mix of competitors, offering both a challenge and a learning experience. And wow, Cupar delivered, with a wave of personal bests and maximum effort throughout the day! 🙌

🌅 Morning Session: Fife Novice (Level 3)
For our younger swimmers aged 8–13, the morning’s Novice events focused on learning and improving. Level 3 allows for minor stroke errors without disqualification, encouraging swimmers to give their all while still gaining vital experience.

Being one team manager I can confirm the 18 enthusiastic swimmers represented Cupar impeccably, and the pool was buzzing with determination. From confident starts to powerful finishes, we saw PBs flying, with some swimmers knocking off up to an incredible 18 seconds from their previous bests! 🔥👏

A huge shoutout to the whole team for their effort, attitude and sportsmanship — they were an absolute credit to CDSC, their coaches, and families. Special thanks to Lindsey (Team Manager), Coach Laura Shaw, Liz (timekeeping) and Graeme (marshalling) for making the session run so smoothly! 🛠️

🌇 Afternoon Session: Fife League (Level 2)
In the afternoon, it was time to step things up — the Level 2 Fife League means every stroke, turn and finish must be perfect to avoid disqualification. With referees, judges and officials on deck, this was another chance for our swimmers to rise to the challenge.

And once again — they smashed it! 💥 More PBs were recorded, with swimmers giving it their all and pushing themselves beyond their limits. Even more inspiring was the incredible team spirit 🤝 — cheers from the gallery, support from poolside, and smiles all round.

Fife Novice & Leagues Superb Swims!

Sunday 9th March 2025 saw Cupar and District Swimming Club hold our annual club championships. The club championships are a highlight of the club's season, bringing together swimmers across all squads within the club but also coaches, helpers, parents and family getting a chance to see the club at its very best - competitive fun and community. With a full schedule from 10am until 3pm there was plenty of swimming and fun to enjoy. And what a day it was.&nbsp;

During sessions ahead of the championships, our swimmers were timed across each stroke to determine 'finalists' across the following age ranges for boys and girls: 8 years and under; 9 and 10 years old; 11 and 12 years old; 13 and 14 years old; 15 and 16 years old and 17+ years old. These swimmers would be competing for medals and trophies across strokes, with an overall winner for each age groups also being decided. But an equal focus of this championships was to allow as many swimmers as possible the chance to swim at the event so between the distance events, there were heats of 25m competitive races for those who were keen to take part as well. 

Maintaining the positive ethos of the club, every swimmer received either medals or ribbon placings, and finalist competing for overall age group trophies. It was great to see so many smiling faces and different winners across strokes backcrawl, breast stroke, butterfly, front crawl and individual medley for the 9 years and up age groups.

There was some fantastic swimming across the day with some very close races and final standings and one category even seeing joint winners. It's testaments to the swimmers and coaches for all the hard work that is put in. And, amongst of the racing there was also some very entertaining fun swims thrown in. Swimmers having to swim a length wearing novelty hats and even a dressing up race leaving some of our technical officials and helpers parading down poolside in some colourful attire! Much to the amusement of the children...and viewing gallery!

Club Championships 2025

If you're a member of Cupar and District Swimming Club, you’re likely already familiar with the vibrant and supportive community it fosters. Beyond providing essential life skills for our youngest swimmers, the club also plays a key role in nurturing both swimming techniques and personal growth for our junior and senior athletes. While the time spent in the pool often takes focus, there are occasions where the club and its young persons gain formal recognition for this wider role.&nbsp;

Last month, club members attended the annual East Fife Sports Council Awards evening at the Corn Exchange in Cupar to celebrate achievements in sport in East Fife.

And it was a hugely successful event for one of our senior swimmer, Lilianna Wiacek who was awarded Young Volunteer of the Year Award - acknowledging “outstanding volunteering support to a school &amp;/or a local club by a young person in full-time education”.

Lilianna was nominated by Active Schools for her role as an Active Schools Young Leader at Bell Baxter High School:

In 2024, Lilianna supported several key projects, programmes and initiatives within the cluster - specifically designed to enhance sporting opportunities for hundreds of children and young people… she consistently demonstrated the right levels of commitment, dedication, positivity and enthusiasm to become an exceptional Young Leader. Lilianna also volunteers 1-2 hours per week at Cupar &amp; District Swimming Club.

In addition, for the club as a whole, Cupar was also runner-up in the Club Development Award - recognising “the club that progressed and enhanced its development for the benefit of its members and wider local community”.

Runner-up to winner Pegasus Gymnastics Club, CDSC was shortlisted for the major rebuild of the club in 2024, doubling member numbers and setting up swimming options for those who wish to compete as well as those who don’t. Also for the success of the new Masters section and support of Fife Schools Aquatic Group link with Bell Baxter High School.

An incredible achievement for both Lilliana and CDSC which reiterates the value of the club and how it can help develop our young swimmers both in the pool and their wider personal development. Congratulations to all involved.

Why Our Club is Great!

The East District Age Group Championships (EDAGs) are a series of highly regarded events coordinated by Scottish Swimming, spread across several weekends throughout the swimming calendar. Held at Level 1, these championships are designed for swimmers born in 2014 or earlier who have demonstrated the performance and aptitude to compete in a more competitive environment. While enjoyment is always a key focus at any event our swimmers attend, EDAGs also offers a unique opportunity for those selected to showcase their hard work in a high-level, competitive setting.

Cupar and District Swimming Club was well represented at the third EDAG event of the season, with five swimmers—Aaron, Ailsa, Alfie, Nicholas, and Philip—taking part. Held at the iconic Royal Commonwealth Pool in Edinburgh over two days, the experience of competing in a 50m pool was unforgettable. For three of our swimmers, this was their first time competing at EDAGs, making the event even more special.

All our swimmers delivered impressive performances, setting a strong foundation for future competitions at all levels. A huge congratulations to each of you! Well done!

🏊‍♂️ CDSC Long Distance Championships 2024 - Session 2 Recap! 🏆

🏊‍♂️ Thursday, 28th November marked the second session of Cupar Swimming Club's Long Distance Championships—building on the excitement of the previous week's events! 🌟

After the challenging 200m IM and 400m Freestyle, this session featured a shorter but speedy 200m Freestyle, followed by the endurance-testing 800m Freestyle—a true lung-buster! 💨💪

📍 Hosted at our home base in Cupar Sports Centre, the session maintained its engaging format, with swimmers competing across age categories: 10 &amp; Under, 11/12, 13/14, 15/16, and 17+. From our youngest swimmers, aged just 8, to our Masters swimmers, the level of effort, stamina, and determination was truly remarkable.

With warmups complete, the competition kicked off with the 200m freestyle/front crawl. As a shorter-distance event, it brought out competition across all age groups, resulting in some thrillingly close races. One standout was the 11/12-year-old girls' race, where the swimmers were separated by just over a second! Congratulations to each of the age group winners below plus our Masters swimmers along with each and very swimmer pushing each other on.&nbsp;

The second session featured the grueling 800m distance event, a true test of endurance and determination. While this longer race may not appeal to everyone, special recognition goes to two of our 10 &amp; Under swimmers, Michael Jamieson and Philip Wiacek, who tackled the event for the first time. Both demonstrated incredible stamina and perseverance, cheered on enthusiastically by their teammates on poolside.

One of the evening’s standout moments was the final heat, featuring our older and more experienced swimmers, Maisie, Max, and Aaron. In a thrilling display of skill and determination, they remained neck-and-neck for nearly the entire 800m. Competing in different categories and age groups, each of them was well-deserving of their first-place finishes—a fitting highlight to conclude a fantastic session.

Cupar Distance Club Championships 2024: Session 2

🏊‍♂️ CDSC Long Distance Championships 2024 - Session 1 Recap! 🏆

Friday evening marked the first session of Cupar and District Swimming Club’s Long Distance Championships 2024, and what an event it was! Exclusively for our club swimmers, this competition offered our young athletes the chance to push their limits in longer-distance events, showcasing their training, stamina, and determination.

📍 Venue: Cupar Sports Centre – the heart of CDSC action. With families and friends watching and cheering them on, the atmosphere was great as swimmers aged 9 to 17+ took to the water. This event gave everyone an opportunity to see teammates in full race mode while building camaraderie and competitive spirit.

Events of the Evening:💪 200m Individual Medley (IM) and 💪 400m Freestyle/ Split across multiple age groups—17+, 15/16, 13/14, 11/12, and 10 &amp; Under—we saw 19 swimmers dive into action, including a few of our Masters swimmers. It was fantastic to witness the range of talent and determination across the club.

🏅 Poolside Celebrations: After a busy hour or so of racing, the evening concluded with a quick medal and trophy presentation on poolside, recognising the incredible efforts and achievements of our swimmers. The team spirit and pride on display were truly inspiring.

A huge WELL DONE to all participants—you’ve set the bar high for the rest of the championships! 🎉

The evening kicked off with the 200m IM, featuring 5 competitive heats and 17 swimmers. This challenging event tested swimmers' versatility, requiring them to complete 50m Butterfly, 50m Backstroke, 50m Breaststroke, and 50m Freestyle (Front Crawl).

In some heats, swimmers from different age groups competed side by side, adding to the excitement. However, final placements were determined solely by recorded times, ensuring a fair and competitive race for all participants.

The second event of the evening was the 400m Freestyle/front crawl, a test of stamina and endurance requiring swimmers to complete 16 lengths of the 25m pool. This event especially challenged our younger athletes, pushing them to dig deep and showcase their determination.

The racing was incredibly close, with some heats seeing less than a second separating competitors—a thrilling display of skill and focus! What stood out even more was the incredible team spirit, as swimmers on the poolside cheered enthusiastically for those in the water, providing a motivating and supportive atmosphere throughout these long-distance swims.

A Huge Congratulations and Thank You!

A massive congratulations to all our swimmers for their incredible efforts and achievements.

As always, we extend our huge thanks to our coaches, committee members, timekeepers, judges, volunteers, and helpers who made this event possible and ensured everything ran smoothly (and just in time before the pool closed!).

Cupar District Distance Swimming Club Championships

Cupar Distance Club Championships 2024: Session 1

Sunday 11th November saw Michael Woods Centre in Glenrothes host a budding group of Fife club swimmers to set times&nbsp; across disciplines at the Fife Swimming Time Trials. With both level 3 (morning) and level 2 (afternoon) sessions, it provided the opportunity for younger or less experienced swimmers to take part in a electronically timed event and post accurate times for their swims in a fun, friendly and positive focussed environment. Meanwhile for our level 2, more experienced swimmers, it was an opportunity to post official times at an L2 licences event required for the East District Championships.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Cupar and District Swimming Club sent an enthusiastic team of swimmers to both sessions and some excellent swims were on show by all once again. The morning session saw Arwen McKelvie, Freya Brown, Ella Smart, Thea Edwards, Aurora Andrews, Jaime Blyth, Rachel Coggle, Levi Nicholson, Milan Edwards and Ewan Addison all compete across 50m events of Fly, Backcrawl, Breaststroke and Freestyle, plus 100m free. One again we saw a host of PBs being made by Team Cupar. And for those who have had recorded swims more recently, they were also seeing some very consistent results and swims. As you can see there were happy, smiling faces and and with a large group taking part, it was great to see Team Cupar being very positively represented both in and out the pool. Well done all!

The afternoon saw Team Cupar take a similarly sized group of our more experienced swimmers aged 10-14 years: Freya Lightfoot, Hannah Graham,&nbsp;Alfie Edwards, Aaron Jamieson, Murray Strachan, Nicholas Logan, Freddie Milne, Craig Robb and Philip&nbsp;Wiacek. Yest more PBs were made across the group swimming in the same disciplines but with more 100m and 200m distances.&nbsp; These events provide a great opportunity for these swimmers to really put to the test what they have been working on and perhaps what need to be worked on further but again, the underpinning of these events is competitive fun. It is a credit to the coaches, staff swimmers and their families to always see smiling faces associated with the Cupar &amp; District Swimming Club team. Keep up the hard work!

As always, we must take a moment to thank the coaches, staff and helpers from Cupar who help the club to take part and run these events: coach in the morning Gina Logan with Lindsey Blyth helping keeping the younger ones sorted. Katrina Addison and Sally Stephen both on marshalling duties, while&nbsp;Martin McKelvie was time keeping and Hilary Lumsden judging.&nbsp;In the afternoon Lesley  Murray was coaching the squad, Leigh  Jamieson team manager, with Gina Logan and Karina Wiacek judging, Fiona Milne at front of house and selling tickets to family and friends watching, and Gregor Jamieson, Sarah Lightfoot, Jenny Robb time keeping. Cupar Times Tumble at Time Trial

(swimmers, ask your parents about the headline!)&nbsp;Sunday 3rd November saw a troop of Cupar &amp; District Swimmers make the journey to Whitburn, West Lothian for the jam-packed Eian Prentice Memorial Gala, a Junior Group Age Gala hosted by Fauldhouse Penguins Swimming Club. This was a level 3 event aimed at our younger swimmers aged 7-11 years. For some, this was their first gala away from home and the farthest they have travelled for a competitive swim. This event is very much focussed on competitive fun with swimmers in the top six places for time, receiving medals. There was even some 'competition' for the spectators with an entertaining 'chuck-a-duck' competition at the end of the sessions. And, as usual, Team Cupar did not disappoint in the pool.

For the early starters, the morning session was for swimmers aged 8 or younger, and aged 9. Cupar was represented by Orla Shaw, Arwen KcKelvie, Freya Brown, Matthew Logan, Levi Nicholson and Oliver Daly. Each of our intrepid swimmers performed superbly across their races, with each of them securing at least one Personal Best (PB) in their events. And not only securing PBs but taking big chunks off their seeded times as well. There was also a mixed 4x25m freestyle relay event to conclude the session, with Freya, Levi, Orla and Matthew putting in a great team swim. Being a first competitive relay for some, it was another great experience ticked off for our swimmers. Superb efforts by all and clear sign of their hard work and determination paying off. You should all be very proud of yourselves; well done!

The afternoon session was for swimmers aged 10 and 11 years. For Team Cupar, we had some more very strong swims by&nbsp;Ella Smart,&nbsp;Ailsa Daly,&nbsp;Michael Jamieson, Philip Wiacek and&nbsp;Nicholas Logan. And, you guessed it, more fantastic PBs and some medal placings were secured. Yet another energetic and buoyant atmosphere helped to round off a great event for our young swimmers. The relay team competing in a 4x50m freestyle, comprised of Ailsa, Ella, Nicholas and Philip and team-work paid off with them finishing in 2nd place: very well done!

Congratulations to all our young swimmers. And a BIG thank you to our Cupar coaches Gina and James for putting a long shift in with our swimmers, Ailsa for time-keeping, Karina for judging and Leigh for Team Managing. A great team effort by all with everyone continuing to do Cupar &amp; District Swimming Club proud.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Cupar Swimmers P-P-P-Pick Up a PB!

Saturday 26th and Sunday 27th saw a big group of Cupar and District Swimming Club swimmers head along to Michael Woods Centre in Glenrothes for the Junior Age Group meet hosted by Warrender Baths Club, who are based in Edinburgh. The event, gave swimmers the opportunity to enjoy early season racing, with a focus on individual improvements and technical gain.&nbsp;

For some of our younger swimmers this was a first event to first experience these fantastic galas, while cheering on 'Team Cupar' alongside some more seasoned gala goers. With the number of swimmers listed below, it must have been one noisy event!

And as is the common theme of our hard-working group, many PBs were made with some excellent swims and, although no medal placings were at this event, a number managed to place in the top 3, 5 or 10 places for their events. Well done to all who took part and feedback from the team tells us it was a very enjoyable event.&nbsp;

Cupar at Epic Warrender Swim Meet

Genuine excitement for our swimmers as they took part in an an Open Meet at Dundee's Olympia swimming pool. Given the challenges faced by this venue over the years, it is great to see our swimmers being able to enjoy this facility. Hosted by Dundee City Aquatics, this was the&nbsp;Autumn Open Meet 2024 for swimmers aged 9-15+ at level 2 across Saturday 19th and Sunday 20th October 2024.

Once again, Cupar and District Swimming Club had an eager group of eight swimmers competing among 50m, 100m and 200m events across disciplines:&nbsp;Philip Wiacek,&nbsp;Max Muir (Club Captain),&nbsp;Lilianna Wiacek,&nbsp;Craig Robb,&nbsp;Aaron Jamieson,&nbsp;Hannah Graham,&nbsp;Michael Jamieson and Freddie Milne. A bit of sibling 'rivalry' and support in here I'm sure helped to push our swimmers to achieve a number of fantastic PBs, once again!&nbsp;

Below is a summary of our swimmers events and times. 'Team Cupar' once again representing Cupar and District Swimming Club with enthusiasm. These meets and galas continue to showcase the hard work and dedication of the club's swimmers, which is vital to help the club continue to develop and grow, particularly setting a great example to our youngest swimmers. Credit to all involved and congratulations. Finally, another huge thank you to our dedicated team of coaches, team managers, timekeepers and officials who volunteer their time to keep our swimmers swimming!

We're at the time of year where swimming galas and meets are in full swing. Cupar and District Swimming Club were represented by a budding group of swimmers at the Heart of Midlothian Amateur Swimming Club, Premier Age Group Meet on Saturday 5th October at the Michael Woods Centre in Glenrothes.&nbsp;

As an accredited level 2 meet, with medals on offer for podium places this meet offered a fun, friendly and competitive environment for our swimmers to put their hard work into action. And they did!

Cupar sent an eager squad of seven aged 10-14 taking part in 50m and 100m distances across disciplines in morning and afternoon sessions. Our young swimmers here:&nbsp;Freya Lightfoot,&nbsp;Aaron Jamieson,&nbsp;Ailsa Daly, Ava Shaw,&nbsp;Lilianna Wiacek,&nbsp;Freddie Milne and Murray Strachan.

 Each and every one of our swimmers pushed themselves in their events, with each and every one achieving at least one PB across the day. Once again supported by the enthusiastic support of 'Team Cupar' poolside, this was another hugely successful event. Well done to all swimmers.&nbsp;

SASA EAST DISTRICT Short Course Time Trial

What's the word for a group of Personal Bests...a pool; a pond; a posse?&nbsp;

Cupar &amp; District Swimming Club was delighted to have six of our swimmers taking part at the Time Trial event held at Michael Woods Centre, Glenrothes over the weekend of 28th/29th September.

Run by the SASA East District, the meet was aimed at providing swimmers with an opportunity to gain entry times for events in the 2024/25 East District Age Group Championships (EDAGs) - this was a Level 2 meeting.&nbsp;

Some fast and enjoyable swimming, with plenty of the renowned 'Team Cupar' support on poolside, saw a number of Personal Bests (PBs) being achieved.

Cupar swimmers were:&nbsp;Lilianna Wiacek,&nbsp;Aaron Jamieson,&nbsp;Philip Wiacek,&nbsp;Michael Jamieson,&nbsp;Hannah Graham and one of the club's captains, Max Muir.&nbsp;

A huge congratulations to our swimmers proving all that hard work at training is certainly paying off. And thanks also to the coaches and team managers committing their time to support our swimmers.&nbsp;

Time Trial PBs Galore!

Saturday 22nd June 2024 saw swimmers of Cupar &amp; District Swimming Club compete in the annual club championships. Following heats taking place in the weeks prior, our swimmers were all set for a great day racing. The championships act as a great event to bring our swimmers, coaches and families together at the same time and enjoy a bit of competitive swimming, gaining recognition for their hard work.&nbsp;

A fantastic event took place in the afternoon across the girls and boys age ranges: 8 and under; 9/10 years; 11/12 years; 13/14 years; 15/16 years and; 17+ years. With new swimmers to the championships amongst more experienced competitors, it was great to see and hear the support from swimmers on poolside cheering everyone on, alongside a full viewing gallery of family and friends.&nbsp;

As is the positive ethos of the club, every swimmer was awarded a placing medal or ribbon for every event to highlight their achievements. Swimmers competed in events for backcrawl, breast stroke, butterfly, front crawl and individual medley for the 9 years and up age groups. Some very competitive and close races took place with every swimmer successfully completing every race at every level and overall champions for each age group were decided (results below).&nbsp;

Following the event, swimmers, coaches, family and friends were invited to stay for final presentations and to enjoy a picnic in the sunshine from the clubhouse with plenty of smiles on the faces of swimmers with their medals and ribbons.&nbsp;

A huge thank you to all the coaches, technical officials, time-keepers, scorers, committee and volunteers who helped to setup, run and takedown the event.

The wellbeing of all swimmers is of the highest importance. Here you will find information about our codes of conduct, policies and procedures. 

We can advise on the best general swimming kit for members and we also have a selection of CDSC branded swimming kit available including caps, water bottles, onesies and teebags. See more below.

CDSC Squads

Cupar and District Swimming Club structure: Non-competing Member - Tadpoles (learn to swim), Frogs (learn to swim/improvement for older children), Training (swimmers who have been through the competing pathway, then choose to stop competing but want to keep swimming). Competing Member - all other squads, as at some point it is hoped they will take part in a swimming gala and/or club championships.

Under supervision and guidance from the coaches, swimmers are allocated to squads and swimming sessions based largely around age and ability.
